Einfügen von Text aus einer js-Datei in eine html-Datei bei Mac

Ist es noch so, dass diese Anweisung z. B. mit dem Internetexplorer mit Mac nicht funktioniert?
in html-Datei: <script language="JavaScript" src="xxx.js"></script>

zur zeit ist es vor allem noch so, dass im <script>-tag das erforderliche attribut type fehlt.
