Habe ich dann auch mal gemacht, und siehe da:
Applies to: inline-level and 'table-cell' elements
Somit kannst du es dir im <p> wohl komplett sparen und müßtest die Eigenschaft halt nur für (die betreffenden) img-Elemente definieren.
