Das Problem sind wohl nicht fehlende Zeichen, sondern der IE. Auf meinem System habe ich etliche Zeichen, die der Firefox darstellt, der IE aber nicht.

“The most useful phonetic symbols are mapped onto the keys of the ordinary keyboard. […] The remaining IPA symbols […] have been assigned to ANSI numbers in a logical order.”

Ich glaub auch nicht, dass das hilft, einen Font einzusetzen, der für IPA-Zeichen die Codes 32 bis 255 benutzt.
