Hallo,

ein Buchstabe hat in ASCII 8 Bit = 1 Byte.

Es gibt beides: es gibt eine 7 Bit ASCII (war die erste Version in 1964 mit 128 Chars. auch ANSI genannt) und eine 8 Bit ASCII (eben mit 256 Chars. oder die erweiterte ASCII)
Ein Beispiel: A
ASCII (7 bit)  1000001
ASCII (8 bit)  01000001
UTF-8   01000001
UCS-2   00000000 01000001
UCS-4    00000000 00000000 00000000 01000001
