Another solution: draw a 6×8 rectangle. Draw both diagonals — by Pythagoras, the diagonals have length 10. The diagonals of a rectangle always divide it into four equal-area pieces, and we can see that these triangles are 5-5-6 and 5-5-8. (And thus the area is 6×8/4=12.)
