Ist das vielleicht, was ich suche?

Ja.

Einen Absatz weiter heißt es da noch:

"The default of this option is set to [Disabled] (UEFI mode). You can change the Boot Mode setting from UEFI mode to Legacy BIOS mode by set CSM to [Enabled]."

Das wäre IMO ziemlich dämlich von ASUS, den Factory Default so zu wählen, dass das System mit bestehenden ("Legacy") Installationen inkompatibel ist.

Finde ich nicht. Bei einem neuen Mainboard installiert man meist auch das Betriebssystem neu und dann möchte man das Betriebssystem gleich den aktuellen Standards entsprechend installieren.

Und ich dachte, mit SecureBoot deaktiviert wäre implizit alles Legacy-kompatibel.

Es gibt Boards, die das so umsetzen. Aber im technischen Sinne ist Secure Boot UEFI mit Signierung des Bootloaders. UEFI-Boot ohne Secure Boot ist technisch möglich und viele Boards beherrschen das auch. „Legacy“ ist meist CSM, also klassisches BIOS, da kannst du dann auch DOS booten.
